Over the past seventeen years, Australians in Film has grown to play a vital role in promoting and supporting Australian screen talent in the United States. Founded in 2001, Australians in Film (AiF) is a Los Angeles-based, non-profit screen organization that supports its members with career development and education programs including the prestigious Heath Ledger Scholarship, AiFUpload Film Festival, Mentor LA, the Village Roadshow/Animal Logic Entertainment Internship, the Greg Coote Fellowship, Gateway LA and The Writer’s Room. AiF is based at Charlie’s, a shared workspace at the historic Raleigh Studios in Hollywood where Charlie Chaplin and Douglas Fairbanks made films and frequently, played cards. Since opening in 2006, Charlie’s has become a bespoke hub for business, collaboration and networking for the Australian screen community in Los Angeles and where AiF regularly holds its industry education programs.
